In other news....
stamplet has been having the biggest MMC party ever in her journal, which of course, makes her the coolest person alive. *cheers* So far, I've gotten: Stone Cold Gentleman, Motownphilly, the Camp Rap skit, the Bomb Squad skit, Pride In The Name of Love, Black Or White, The Way She Loves Me, and a handful of credits and Emerald Cove.
Yeah, I've pretty much been camped out in her journal as of late, why do you ask? Heh.
But, MMC! It's so fun! The hair, and the dancing, and the clothes, and I think Blain even got to sing in one song, instead of just lurking around and looking creepy! I am pretty durn impressed.
.......
Moving along to long, sad pet babble.....
dacey has been talking about her own personal pet crisis, and man, pet issues just totally get to me. I'm the person who will read the paper, read about someone's house burning to the ground, and them losing all of their possessions, and I'll feel bad for them and all.....but if I then read that they also lost their pet/s in the fire? Oh, god. I just want to bawl. I'm such a sucker when it comes to animals.
I was pretty bad before, but it's gotten worse since one of our cats died. We got Slick shortly after my eleventh birthday. He was the sweetest cat in the world....he'd walk up to anybody, and when they started petting him, he'd just lie there and purr for as long as they wanted. He loved people.
This past summer, I woke up one morning to find our next-door neighbor banging on our door. She kept telling me that our cat was in her yard.....I assumed she meant he had just wandered over and wouldn't leave, and thought "Okay, shoo him away, lady. Big deal." Then, I thought "Oh, maybe he's hurt."
He'd been out that night, and hadn't come back in when we called him. This wasn't really unusual - once he got out, he would take off for hours and not come back. Sometime during the night, he'd been shot in the head with some kind of air rifle, or something of the sort - I don't really know much about those kinds of things.
I'd never had a pet die on me before - certainly not in such a terrible manner. And, you have to realize, I'd had this cat for half of my life. I'm not saying it's not hard for someone if they lose a pet after a year or so, but after eleven years....you know, that's some hard shit.
After some snooping around, we came to the conclusion that it was the neighbor's kid and his asshole friends who did it. He didn't usually go in their yard....from his position, it looked like he was walking towards their back porch, where they all hang out. He wouldn't have gone over there unless he was called. And he was only a few feet away, so there's no way he could have been mistaken for anything other than what he was - a harmless, old cat.
The neighbor kids had been shooting off their air rifles a few days earlier, and my mom had yelled at them for it. The kid who actually lives there seemed pretty harmless, but it's his friends that were the problem. I knew this because one of them happened to be the younger brother of my best friend, and I knew for years that he was a cruel little fucker.
The kid is still next door, and his friends still come over. We have two cats left, and it worries the hell out of me when they go outside. I mean, I doubt these little bastards would be so stupid as to pull the same trick twice.....but then again, I never thought they'd be so stupid and mean that they'd lure a sweet cat who loved people over so they could shoot him, either.

Soooo....yeah. (I got pretty wordy about all that....sorry). Like I said, I was bad before when it came to animals....animals dying, cruelty to animals.....but since that happened, I've been so much worse about it. I look at my cat, who's totally my baby (points at icon), and is twelve years old now. I know at some point, something's going to happen to him, whether it's plain old age or, god forbid, the fucking neighbors strike again. And I already get choked up thinking about it.
Having pets is a wonderful thing, but sometimes.....it's kinda a horrible thing, too. *sigh*
Well, enough dreariness for tonight. Remind me not to write any more entries at one in the morning, I get all mopey and shit. :) If you got through that, you deserve a cookie. Hell, you deserve a cheesecake. LOL.
