Awwww. No Pro Bowl? This sucks! *cries*

I mean, I know everyone else has said it, and I can imagine right now, everybody on my friendslist is looking at this entry going "Oh, god. Someone else is bitching about it." So I'll try to be brief. Okay, okay, I'm NEVER EVER brief. Sorry.

I can understand the link to Justin/Janet. I mean, duh. It's obvious. Maybe it's Justin's "fault", but I think it's his fault in an unintentional way. Who really thinks he engineered Nipplegate in order to fuck JC over? I mean, really. Yes, if this "incident" hadn't happened, there would probably be no problem with JC performing. I get it. Seriously, though. As yummy and enticing the thought of Justin thinking about JC constantly 24/7 is, I really doubt JC entered Justin's mind in any of this. If it was intentional, then I'm sure Justin was thinking more along the lines of how he would get media attention, as opposed to JC getting media attention (good or bad) by association.

Now, Justin's blaming Janet, I guess? *shrugs* *throws hands in air* This was kinda entertaining and amusing Sunday night/Monday, whatever. But now, it's like "What the hell? Go away." Of course, I'm feeding right into the trap by talking about it, but you know. It's a slow night, and I'm bored.

Basically, I think it was probably intentional, more people probably knew about it than they're letting on, and everybody is busily denying any knowledge and finger-pointing so they personally don't get into trouble for it. Which, really, I guess that's to be expected. Human nature, and all.

So, on to the more important part (heh), our little buddy JC. The Pro Bowl news definitely sucks. From the sounds of it, it would have been a really awesome performance. And that's kind of the crux of the thing. From the sounds of it. The....whoever....people in charge....never even saw a rehearsal. I can understand that they're gun-shy, but my god. How about you give the kid a warning, you watch his rehearsals like hawks, and then make a decision? The whole thing is sort of stupid. Okay, very stupid.

And didn't JC himself make a comment, right after the Great Nipple Escapades '04, that he didn't think it was the right time or place for it? From what I've seen, JC tries to be as neutral as a pair of khakis. He tries not to say anything one way or the other that will greatly piss people off. (From what I've seen). So for him to actually say even that much says, at least to me, that he was somewhat offended by it. It just makes me doubt that there would have been anything remotely worrisome about his own performance, especially so soon after this happened. I mean, you'd be stupid to try to pull something racy off at this point.

But, hey, whatever. I think we all agree that it's dumb, and we're disappointed. I'm kinda disjointed - [livejournal.com profile] dacey makes a way better case in her journal than I did.

In summation -
1. I still think the Extreme Nipple Tragedy of the 21st Century was more intentional than it's being alluded to, but hey, there's a whole shitload of worse things on the television and in the world in general. Yes, it was inappropriate, and everyone knows it now. Fine whoever you're going to fine, keep an eye on future proceedings, and GET OVER IT. Seriously. It was a fucking nipple, for maybe 3.2 seconds. For real.

2. I highly, highly doubt that Justin's Purposeful Evil Ways led to JC's bad luck. Justin's Accidental Evil Ways :) maybe. The kid fucked up, and I think he knows it now. While he may deserve a stern talking-to, I seriously don't think he deserves the downfall of his best friend pinned to his lapel on top of it.

3. And, you know, not seeing JC sucks. Obviously. But since he's (possibly) not doing anything Sunday night now, I think he should go gather Chris, Joey, and Lance, and have a wild party. With lots of pictures. That are released to the public. *nods* I'd suggest they invite Justin, but I hear he's got his own plans that night. :-p

Yeah, I know. Not too brief. *sigh* I apologize.

I got this from a tabloid (Star, I believe), so of course, there's a 99% likelihood that it's not true. But I thought I'd post it, just for shits and giggles.

So, yeah. It's not even the Cameron/Justin/Britney angle that I'm interested in. Let's pretend this is true. If it was, I wonder which bandmate it is we're talking about? Discuss.

Heh. I love tabloids.

All right, well. I downloaded the clip of Justin's interview, and now I don't know what to think. Personally, I was pretty sure that it was all a stunt, that sure, maybe it was thrown together haphazardly, but it was still at least somewhat intentional, and it was only when there was so much backlash against it, that everybody spoke up and denied knowledge of what was going to happen.

But....the kid really does sound sincere. (He's four months older than me, yet I insist on calling him a kid. I don't know. I still call JC a kid, too. And Chris. But who wouldn't call Chris a kid?!) What really made me wonder is when he pointed out that he's had a good year, and that he doesn't really need a publicity stunt of this nature. Because - yeah, he's right. He could have stood on that stage and done jazz squares, and it still would have gotten him media hype.

So.....I don't know. I'm starting to lean more towards his side. And, even if it turns out, somewhere down the road, that he managed to snow us all - I think he totally regrets it now. I think he is completely and totally aware of the ramifications of his actions, and he learned his lesson. Whether it was needed or not. The most unfortunate thing about this whole mess is that JC will not be performing at the Pro Bowl now, everything is getting examined like we're in a Very Special Episode of CSI. First, we have the whole deal with the Grammys and the tape delay - which doesn't bother me too much, and it's probably a good idea, but still. Then, of course, JC. And now, I'm hearing that some NBC affiliates are threatening to not show tomorrow night's episode of ER, because apparently, there's a naked breast shown. And I'm sure there's more instances that I'm not aware of.

I really think it's stupid, though. I mean, ER showed an old woman's breasts in the last rerun they showed. It surprised me, but it didn't scar me for life. And I didn't hear the big kerfuffle over that. But, because of the Great Superbowl Travesty of 2004, it's all getting the fine-tooth comb treatment.

I understand that stuff like that can be offensive, but I think if you go through everything with the magnifying glass, taking out everything that offends people - well, I mean, it's just impossible. You can't do it. There's always going to be something that offends someone. Should this incident have happened? Probably not. But it did, and it's done, and these things happen. There's not a lot we can do about it.

Okay. I'll be honest. In the space of a few hours, I learned that (a) I would not be getting Chasez goodness at the Pro Bowl, and (b) I may not be getting ER (Luka goodness!) tomorrow night. *cries* Obviously, all of these measures are being taken solely TO PISS ME RIGHT OFF.

I think I'm done ranting about that for the time being.....however, I did realize, listening to the audio of Justin, that it's been awhile since I've just listened to just audio of him, just talking, and it made me smile. Aww.

And, also, a cautionary note to all of you: If you think you're going to fall asleep, do not play JC's concert clips on your Discman. Because, inevitably, you will start to fall asleep, and nearly have a heart attack when somebody screams, loudly, directly in your ear. Jeebus.
