Random Acts of Bitchery
Sep. 5th, 2005 01:09 amOr, Petty Things That Annoy Me:
1) Fanlistings. Seriously, what the hell is the point? So you can see that other people are into your 'ship? Uh, okay. That's super. Every time I do a search for a couple or TV show I enjoy, I end up having to sift through endless fanlistings and it never ceases to annoy the hell out of me. I'm looking for information, media clips, pictures....pretty much anything except a random list of names. And guess what I usually end up finding? Yep.
2) People who post icons in a public community with a link to the rest of their icons......and when you click on it, it's a private entry. Now, maybe there are some people who post and just forget or something, I don't know. But overall, it just seems like a ploy to get more people to join their community. Like "Oh, did you really want to see the rest? Well, then you have to sign up! Ha!" I guess I just figure you should be honest about it. You want people to join your community? Then say "Hey, I started this icon community for ___, if you're interested in joining let me know." This whole "follow the trail to its inevitable dead end" thing seems really sneaky, and no matter how much I like their icons, I'm usually going to resist joining the community just because of it.
3) I hate when someone posts an opinion on something and they get eight billion people up in their business trying to change their mind. It's not so much that debate pisses me off, because hey, it's a public entry and if everyone is mature about it, debates can be fun. It's the people who are determined to beat the poster over the head with why their opinion is wrong that bugs me.
4) Kinda related to the last one.....when someone says in their post that they don't want to debate, their mind is made up, and they really just want to discuss their post with others who feel the same way....as far as I'm concerned, if you disagree with them, you should stay out of it. I mean, yeah, there are people who post things and say "If you don't like my couple, you suck and I don't want to talk to you!" But I'm talking about the people who are decent about it, who basically say "My opinion is set, and I don't want to turn this into an A-vs-B situation - I just want to have an open forum to share my feelings with like-minded people."
I guess I just feel that it's being rude to ignore their request. They've already said they're not going to change their mind - so why waste the time in trying to convince them they're wrong? It's very likely that it won't happen. It just makes you look like the lesser person for barging in somewhere to bludgeon them with your viewpoint.
5) Jessica Simpson. Have I already mentioned that she annoys me? I think I have.
6) The fact that, out of all the One Tree Hill sites with video clips that I've found, I can find hardly any Jake/Peyton clips. I've downloaded pretty much every scene that Lucas has had with Peyton and Haley or that Haley has had with Nathan. I even have some of Brooke with Mouth and with Felix (I know,
smithereen - but I definitely agree that he seems like a waste of air). But the Jeyton clips are basically nonexistent. This makes me sad, because I'm getting the inkling that Jeyton just may be MY 'ship.
.....of course, maybe I'm just saying that because they're still somewhat mysterious. Because, as previously mentioned - I can't find any damn clips of them!
7) I noticed in the store the other day that they had chocolate cheesecake. Naturally, I was hugely excited about this, because - chocolate? Plus cheesecake? I mean, come on. So we had a family get-together today, and I convinced my parents to buy one. The annoying part? I tried it - and it wasn't very good. *sigh* It's more like chocolate pudding on a pie crust than actual cheesecake. And it's got some weird cookie crumbles all over it that makes it taste funny. So that was a big disappointment.
And, as I'm sure you can tell by now, I'm running out of things to complain about. (Don't worry - I'm sure it won't last for long). So I believe I shall end off here. I hope everyone is having a good Labor Day weekend!
