I'm about ten or eleven episodes into Angel.  So far, it hasn't quite grabbed me the way that Buffy did - but I'm interested enough to keep going.  Plus, I know I've seen later episodes and enjoyed them.  PLUS, it's ANGEL.  I feel that my Buffy-viewing experience would not be totally complete without it and all.

Naturally, there are many good things.

1 - David Boreanaz.  I always enjoyed the character of Angel simply for the deadpan moments.  Angel is FUNNY....but he's not supposed to be, so whenever he shows a little bit of humor, it is hilarious.

2 - The humor in general.  That was one thing that I loved about Buffy - there was such a great sense of humor within the show, and during moments where you would least expect it.  Angel also has this going for it.  Example?  Angel realizes the demon they're looking for is a burrower demon, and Cordelia automatically responds with "But it didn't LOOK like a donkey!"  Angel and Doyle just stare at her blankly for a moment before it actually registers.  HA!

and, most importantly -

3 - Doyle.  I am honestly not sure how a character managed to grab me and make me care so much about them in the space of, what, nine episodes?......but he did.  I even knew going in that his character was only around for part of the first season and then was killed off.  And when his final episode came on, without peeking, I knew it was his last one simply because of the way the story was going.  Even with all of that.....I still cried.  I didn't tear up or choke up - I flat-out CRIED.

(What was the story with that, anyway?  I have it in my head that the actor died, but I might be confusing that with something else.  But if that's the case - was Doyle written out BECAUSE the actor died, or was Doyle supposed to die all along?  I'm just curious).

Anyway.....yeah.  That was just kind of surprising to me.  Less surprising?  My dislike for Elisabeth Rohm's character.  Kate just bugged me from the second she showed up, and the fact that she's still around (and now she knows the truth about Angel).....ugh.  I'm over it.  Go away, Kate.

But that aside, I am enjoying it.....and now it's on to the Wesley (aka Rogue Demon Hunter) era!  Yay!
