chrysalitronI am currently avoiding the VMAs. Meh. Just not that interested, honestly. And if JC's not going to be there, I don't have a reason to care - and if, for whatever reason, I misunderstood and he's there anyway? Well, I'm sure people will have caps/clips/what have you at some point.
General Hospital - meh. I've said this before, they better have a damned good explanation cooked up as to why Mary has suddenly gone super-crazy. I mean, I get that she wasn't exactly all right in the head in the first place, but still. This is a pretty big leap for me to make, and I'm not going to be making it unless GH coughs up some decent excuses.
The "self-contained" week.....I don't know. A lot of it was fairly hokey, and I still think that GH threw in absolutely everything/everyone they could, just so the viewers would get totally thrown off and confused. I mean, it kinda worked, in that sense - I was usually so busy trying to figure out what the fuck was going on, that I missed a lot of the inconsistencies.
Overall, though - I suppose it wasn't a bad week. Friday was certainly the best day, as far as suspense goes. It was certainly different, and - as everyone has been praising - Sonny and his merry band made zero appearances. Though for me, it was all ruined by the constant onslaught of NEm, and the fact that they have now successfully turned Dillon and Georgie into NEm Jr. Seriously - it's all the same. Georgie is a spoiled selfish brat, but her boyfriend and everyone else gathers around to pat her hand and assure her that's she sweet and wonderful, and she never has to face responsibility for her own, usually idiotic, actions. And Dillon has become nothing more but an enabler. *yawn* NEm sucks bad enough - please don't throw me a teenaged version of them. No, really - please don't.
I think one of my many problems with NEm is the constant recycling of past storylines. They've only been together for, what, a year now? And how many plots recycled from their own relationship have they gone through? Emily has been near death a few times now, Nikolas has been presumed dead a few times now, and let's see, now an innocent young woman is brutally murdered because she's mistaken for Emily. Yeah, we did that one, too - her name was Summer. Shit, it wasn't even that long ago, people. *eyeroll* I really wish the head writers would get some new ideas.
Wow, I only meant to say a few things about GH, and as usual, I went into a total tangent. *sigh* Moooooving along.....
Since I'm bored (heh), let's touch on a few probably unpopular opinions I have regarding certain female celebrities:
While I don't necessarily love Ashanti, I don't hate her, either.
I don't think she's amazing or anything, but she doesn't annoy me too much. But it seems like everyone else in the world really, really hates her. I don't really understand it much.....but then, I tend to avoid MTV. So that might have something to do with it.
I don't think Sheryl Crow has that great of a voice.
I'll be honest, I do like a few of her songs. And yeah, she plays her own instruments and stuff. But when I listen to her actual singing voice? I kinda cringe. Maybe I'm missing something, I don't know - but I just don't see why everyone falls all over themselves about her.
I don't think Julia Roberts is the be all and end all of beauty.
I don't think the woman is an ogre or anything, but....man, she's kinda horsey. All these magazines and shit are like "Oooh, her big beautiful smile!" and I'm like "Wow, big is right." Maybe if I got past the blinding glare of her teeth, I could find the attraction, I don't know.
I think Paris Hilton is smarter than she looks.
I'm not quite sure why I think this.....I guess I think it's like what Jessica Simpson is striving for. Everyone claims that Jessica is playing off her airhead reputation, and yes, it's working very well for her. But is it really an act? It's kinda the same way with Paris, except I'm actually more willing to believe that it might be an act on her part. Who knows, though - chances are, she just has a really smart management/publicity/whatever team.
I think Brandy is very, very far away from being attractive.
Seriously, if anyone told me that Brandy is hot, I think my head would spin. I do not see it at all. Eeesh.
I'm sure Beyonce is a nice girl, and she's very pretty, and possibly quite talented, but she's not the reincarnation of Jesus (at least, not the last time I checked), so can't everybody shut up about her?
For one thing, I think it bugs me that she has a tendency to lip-sync as blatantly as Britney does, and while Britney gets slammed for it, everyone usually praises Beyonce. Why? I don't understand. Britney lip-syncing is bad, but Beyonce doing it is perfectly okay? Whatever. But like I said.....I think she's very pretty, I do think she can sing, and from all the interviews/quotes/etc. I've seen from her, she seems like a decent person. I just get tired of the world acting like she's the second coming.
Okay. I think I'll go be bored elsewhere, and leave the world in peace.
